Bench Anchors (4)

A set of four powder coated steel anchors for fixing a bench down to a deck, a patio or a concrete pad. They are what you use when a bench sits somewhere public, somewhere exposed, or somewhere it needs to be in the same place tomorrow morning.

4Anchors per set
2.5"Anchor height
1.75"Anchor depth
SteelMaterial
  • Four anchors in the set. One per leg on a standard four leg bench.
  • Small enough to disappear. Each anchor is 1.5 by 1.75 by 2.5 inches. Fitted at the foot of a leg it is below the eye line and out of the way of anybody sitting down.
  • Powder coated steel. Baked on finish rather than sprayed, which is what keeps a fitting at ground level from rusting where it is screwed down.
  • For wind, slope and public settings. A teak bench is heavy but it is not bolted down. On a roof terrace, a windy waterfront or a site where the furniture has to stay put, anchors are the difference.

Materials and Construction

Construction. Steel anchors, powder coated, supplied as a set of four. Each one measures 1.5 inches wide by 1.75 deep by 2.5 high and weighs a quarter of a pound.

Finish. Powder coat is baked on rather than sprayed, which is why it survives at the foot of a bench leg where a fitting is permanently in contact with a wet surface.

What Is Included
  • Four bench anchors

Screws or masonry fixings for your particular surface are not included. The bench is a separate item.

Care and Maintenance

Powder coated steel. Wash with mild soap and water. Touch up a deep scratch promptly, because a fitting at ground level has grit and standing water working at it constantly.

Fixings. Use stainless or brass screws into teak. Plain steel rusts and stains the wood around it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many do I need for one bench?

One set. They come in fours, which is one anchor per leg on a standard four leg bench. A longer bench with six legs would need a second set.

Will they fit any Oxford Garden bench?

They are a general accessory rather than made for one bench, and at 1.5 by 1.75 by 2.5 inches they are sized for a normal bench leg. If your bench has an unusual foot, send us a photograph of the leg and we will check it before you order.

What surface can I anchor to?

Wood decking, a concrete pad or pavers, each with the right fixing for that material. The anchors themselves are the bracket; the screws or masonry fixings are chosen for your surface and are not in the box.

Does fitting them damage the bench?

You are screwing into the leg, so yes, there are fixing holes in it afterwards. That is the trade for a bench that stays where you put it. Drill pilot holes rather than driving straight into teak, which splits along the grain.

Will the fittings rust and stain the teak?

The anchors are powder coated steel. Use stainless or brass screws into the wood itself, because a plain steel screw in teak will bleed a dark line down the leg within a season.

How is it delivered?

By parcel carrier. The set ships in a 4 inch cube at 3 lb.

Is this worth doing on a home patio?

Usually not, unless the site is windy or sloped. It is a commercial and exposed site fitting. A teak bench on a sheltered terrace stays where it is on its own weight.
