The Osburn Matrix 2700 (OB02700) is a non-catalytic wood insert for an existing masonry fireplace, rated for 750 to 2,200 sq ft with a maximum heat output of 80,000 BTU/h. It has a large 24 3/8" x 12 5/8" ceramic glass view, a 2.5 cu ft firebox for logs up to 20" long, and an average particulate rate of 1.2 g/h. A cast iron faceplate and a 176 CFM heat-activated blower come standard.

Masonry fireplaces only.Osburn says the Matrix 2700 and its liner go only inside a lined masonry chimney and masonry fireplace, and it is not approved for mobile homes. A certified installer or your local building official should check the installation before the first fire.

Questions people ask us

What do I need to order with the Matrix 2700?

Osburn lists a cast iron door overlay in black or brushed nickel as required, sold separately. The cast iron faceplate and blower come standard. A 34" x 50" cuttable faceplate, a projection kit and a firescreen door are options. See trims and fronts and doors and screens.

How much area will it heat?

Osburn recommends it for 750 to 2,200 sq ft, with up to 80,000 BTU/h from dry cordwood.

Can the Matrix 2700 go in a factory-built fireplace?

No. Osburn states that its wood-burning inserts must only be installed inside an existing masonry fireplace with a lined masonry chimney, never in a factory-built (zero clearance) fireplace or any wooden or combustible structure.

What chimney liner does it need?

A continuous 6" liner from the insert to the top of the chimney, listed to UL 1777 in the US. The total system height from the floor should never be less than 15 ft.

Will it fit my fireplace?
