What does it do?
It reads the temperature of the stove wall. When the stove is hot the blower runs, and when the stove cools it cuts power to the blower, so you are not blowing cool air into the room.

Do I need tools?
Just a screwdriver. The case attaches to the back of the stove with two screws, the ground wire eyelet goes under a screw inside the case, and the lid closes with one more screw.
