Questions people ask us
What do I need to order with the 1700?
Osburn lists three required accessories, each sold separately: a door overlay (black or brushed nickel), a faceplate (Regular 29" x 44" or Large 32" x 50") and matching faceplate trims. A faceplate extension is included with the insert for most hearths. See the trims and fronts and doors and screens collections.
Is the blower included?
Yes. The 1700 comes with a 144 CFM blower that pushes heat from the convection jacket into the room.
Can the 1700 go in a factory-built fireplace?
No. Osburn states that its wood-burning inserts must only be installed inside an existing masonry fireplace with a lined masonry chimney, never in a factory-built (zero clearance) fireplace or any wooden or combustible structure.
What chimney liner does it need?
The 1700 has a 6" flue outlet and is installed with a 6" chimney liner listed to UL 1777 in the US. Osburn also offers a liner hook up system and an offset liner adapter in the venting collection.
How big a fireplace does it fit?
The minimum fireplace opening is 21 1/2" H x 27 1/2" W x 12 7/8" D. Send us your opening measurements and we will check the fit. Ask us here.
