Napoleon Elevation Built-in Electric Fireplace
Napoleon Elevation Built-in Electric Fireplace

A big, layered flame in a fireplace you frame once. The Elevation 36 is a recessed electric fireplace with a triple-layer flame, split oak logs, a modulating ember bed and a decorative trim. Napoleon's Home App adds Wi-Fi control to the remote and touch panel, and the framing is the same as Napoleon's gas Elevation, so you can plan the wall once.
Built in: the fireplace sits in a framed opening and the wall is finished around it. Check the framing size for your model in the table above.

Questions people ask us
Can I hang it on the wall?
No. The Elevation is fully recessed into an enclosure. Napoleon recommends a framed enclosure finished with drywall, and a trim gap of ¼″ to 1½″ of finishing material around the decorative trim.
What power does it need?
A dedicated 15 amp grounded circuit at 120 V or 240 V. Napoleon's manual says it is necessary to hardwire this appliance, and that a qualified electrician must wire it directly to the household wiring. Napoleon also asks for a CSA or UL certified surge protector.
Can I mount a TV above it?
Napoleon's manual warns that elevated temperatures on the wall or in the air above the appliance can damage a TV or other electronic components. Check your TV maker's guidance as well as the clearance chart in Napoleon's manual. If you want a second opinion on your wall, send us the dimensions.
How much heat does it put out?
The heater runs up to 1,465 W at 120 V or 2,930 W at 240 V. It has a thermostat, a blower-only setting, an ECO mode that uses half the heat and a BOOST mode that runs the heater in enhanced mode with a high-speed blower. The flame can run with the heat off.
How do I control it?
The remote and the touch control panel are included. You can also use Napoleon's Home App over Wi-Fi. An optional wall-mount controller is available from Napoleon. The timer runs on a 7 day or 24 hour schedule.
What does the flame look like?
Napoleon builds it in three layers that grow from front to back and from the sides to the middle. You choose yellow or orange flame, five flame speeds, five ember bed colors or a cycle, and 13 top light presets or a cycle. A split oak log set is part of the display.
Does the glass get hot, and can it go in a bathroom?
The glass stays hot for an extended period after the appliance is off, and Napoleon asks that young children be supervised. Napoleon's manual says this appliance is not suitable for installation in a bathroom. It is for indoor use in a spot that is not prone to moisture.
