Napoleon Clearion Elite Built-in Electric Fireplace

One 50 inch fireplace you can see from two rooms. The Clearion Elite 50 is a see-through electric fireplace set in the wall between two spaces. Each side has its own heater control and its own remote, and adjustable privacy glass lets you choose how much you see through it. It is hardwired, so an electrician connects it to your panel.
See-through: one fireplace, two glass fronts, set in the wall between two rooms.

Questions people ask us
What does see-through mean?
The fireplace has a glass front on both sides, so it sits in a wall between two rooms, or a room and a covered space, and you can see the flames from either. Each side has its own heater control and its own remote. Heat one side, both or neither.
What wall thickness does it need?
The framed wall must be 4½″ minimum to 8″ maximum, and that includes the thickness of the finishing materials. Napoleon sells a deep trim for walls near the 4½″ minimum. Finishing material around the opening can be up to 1½″ thick.
What power does it need?
A dedicated 15 amp grounded circuit at 120 V or 240 V, wired directly by a qualified electrician. There is no plug. Napoleon's manual gives the wiring for both voltages and does not permit extension cords.
Can I mount a TV above it?
Napoleon's manual warns that elevated temperatures on the wall or in the air above the appliance can damage a TV or other electronic components. Napoleon's manual gives 8″ from the top of the appliance to a mantel. Check your TV maker's guidance as well as the clearance chart in Napoleon's manual. If you want a second opinion on your wall, send us the dimensions.
How much heat does it put out?
Up to 1,500 W at 120 V or 3,000 W at 240 V in total, with each side heating independently. A thermostat holds the temperature you set, and a lock-out keeps the heater controls from being changed. The flame can run with the heat off on both sides.
What does the privacy glass do?
The center glass has three settings. It starts half transparent, so each side sees the flames and a soft view through. You can make it fully transparent to see straight through, or opaque to keep the other room private.
What is in the flame bed?
A log set comes pre-installed and is finished with topaz glass. The box also holds acrylic crystals in 3.5 lb (1.6 kg). Napoleon says to use the logs and glass, or the crystals. Do not cover the triangular covers on the back with media.
Where can I install it?
Indoors only. Napoleon's manual says not to use it outdoors and to choose a location that is not prone to moisture. Its rating plate lists it as suitable for bedroom and bed-sitting room installation. Please check with us before planning a bathroom install.
