Napoleon Castlemore Gas Stove, Direct Vent, Natural Gas
Napoleon Castlemore Gas Stove, Direct Vent, Natural Gas

A cast iron direct vent gas stove that finishes in Metallic Black and runs on natural gas. The Castlemore GDS26N-1 shows a four-piece log set through a glass door and draws its combustion air from outside, so the flame never uses the air in your room. It lights with an on demand pilot and Napoleon’s manual covers operation with a ProFlame 2 remote. Napoleon classes it as a decorative appliance, built for the look of the fire rather than as a source of heat.
Direct vent: the stove is sealed. Combustion air comes in through the outer pipe and exhaust leaves through the inner pipe, so you do not need a chimney. Napoleon's manual shows the allowed wall and roof runs.

Questions people ask us
What kind of stove is the Castlemore GDS26N-1?
It is a cast iron direct vent gas stove for natural gas in a Metallic Black finish. It draws combustion air from outside and sends the exhaust back out, so you do not need a chimney. The glass door shows a four-piece log set, and Napoleon lists decorative side panels, a fan kit and several vent terminals to finish the installation.
What does direct vent mean for the Castlemore?
It means the stove is sealed. Combustion air comes in from outside and exhaust goes back out through a two-in-one pipe, a 4″ exhaust inside a 7″ air intake. The flame does not use your room air, and you do not need a chimney.
Plan the route before you order. Napoleon’s manual allows a horizontal run of up to 20 ft and a vertical run of up to 40 ft, with minimum rise and elbow rules that depend on the run. If you use the periscope kit to exit below grade, Napoleon limits the vent to 8 ft on a stove. Napoleon also says rigid and flexible venting must not be combined, and parts from different vent makers must not be mixed. The pipe is sold separately.
Which vent kit do I need for the Castlemore?
It depends on where the vent leaves your house. When you use Napoleon venting, the manual lists these terminations: wall terminal kit GD-175 (made for stoves, venting included); roof terminal kit GD-110 for a 1/12 to 7/12 pitch; roof terminal kit GD-111 for an 8/12 to 12/12 pitch; flat roof terminal kit GD-112; periscope kit GD-201 for a wall penetration below grade. Pick one in the add-ons below and it goes into your cart with the stove. You still need pipe and elbows for your run, and Napoleon asks that you do not mix venting brands. See direct vent pipe or send us your vent path and we will check the pieces first.
Is the Castlemore a heater?
No. Napoleon’s rating plate describes it as a vented decorative gas appliance that is not a source of heat and not intended for use as a heating appliance. The 25,000 BTU/hr figure is the most gas the burner can use, not a heating rating. Plan the heating of your room separately and choose this stove for the flame.
How do the ignition and remote work?
The Castlemore has an on demand pilot (IPI). When you turn it on with the switch or remote, the pilot lights and then the burner. When you turn it off, both shut down. Napoleon also built in a continuous pilot mode with a seven day timer. It keeps the system warm for colder starts, and it shuts the pilot off by itself if the stove sits unused for about a week.
The ProFlame 2 remote has six flame levels, a room temperature display in °F or °C, a child lock and a Night Light dimmer. If you add a fan kit, the remote also sets its six speeds.
What happens in a power outage?
Napoleon’s manual says that if the remote batteries run low, you can turn the stove on by hand by sliding the three position switch on the receiver to ON. That bypasses the remote. In a power outage the receiver’s battery holder takes four AA batteries, and the switch must be in the ON position.
Does the Castlemore come with a blower?
No, the blower is optional. Napoleon lists the GS67-1 fan kit as an accessory and sells it separately, and its installation sheet is linked below. Add it in the add-ons below if you want one.
What comes with the stove?
Napoleon’s manual shows the cast iron stove with its cast top and castings, a glass door, a safety barrier, a four-piece log set and the Night Light accent lamp. The vent pipe and terminal, and any optional panels or fan kit, are sold separately.
What are my options for the firebox?
Napoleon lists Sandstone decorative brick panels (GD839KT) and MIRRO-FLAME™ reflective porcelain panels (PRP19) for the sides. Napoleon also says a stone inset can be cut to match the room décor and fit the cast top recess, and its manual points to a downloadable template. Pick panels in the add-ons below.
Does the Castlemore have to be fastened down?
Napoleon says it is recommended that the stove be secured in all installations, and in a mobile home it must be fastened in place.
Is the Castlemore safe around children and pets?
It is hot when it runs, and Napoleon says it stays hot for a long time after it is off. Napoleon supplies a safety barrier that reduces the risk of burns from the hot glass, and says it must be installed. Napoleon also asks that furniture and other objects stay at least 4 ft from the front of the stove, and recommends a physical barrier, such as a safety gate, if toddlers or other at-risk people are in the house.
How much room does the Castlemore need around it?
Napoleon sets minimum clearances to combustibles for the sides, back, top and vent, and they differ by venting layout. They are drawn in the installation manual and on the specification sheet, both linked below, so check them against your wall and ceiling before you order. Napoleon says non-combustible finishing such as brick or stone can sit closer, and that the space around and above the stove must stay unobstructed. Send us your room and we will help you read them.
Where can I install the Castlemore?
Napoleon approves the Castlemore for bedroom, bathroom and bed-sitting room installations and says it is suitable for a mobile home when installed to the standards in the manual. It must be installed by licensed professionals in line with Napoleon’s installation manual and your local codes. A carbon monoxide detector is required in every room that has a gas appliance.
