Napoleon Astound Electric Fireplace
Napoleon Astound Electric Fireplace

A 50 inch fireplace set fully into the wall, with the wiring done once and done right. The Astound Built-in 50 is a recessed electric fireplace with logs and glass media, a built-in heater, a remote and Wi-Fi control from Napoleon's Home App. It is hardwired, so an electrician connects it to your panel.
Built in: the fireplace sits in a framed opening and the wall is finished around it. Check the framing size for your model in the table above.

Questions people ask us
Can I hang it on the wall, or does it have to be recessed?
It must be fully recessed into an enclosure. Napoleon's manual says it cannot be hung on the wall. If you want a fireplace that can hang, look at the Astound FlexMount, which Napoleon makes for wall mounting and recessing.
What power does it need?
A dedicated 15 amp grounded circuit, at 120 V or 240 V, wired directly by a qualified electrician. There is no plug. Napoleon's manual gives the terminal connections for both voltages.
Can I mount a TV above it?
Napoleon's manual warns that elevated temperatures on the wall or in the air above the appliance can damage a TV or other electronic components. Napoleon's manual gives 3 9/16″ from the top of the appliance to a mantel, and 0″ to the finished wall around it. Check your TV maker's guidance as well as the clearance chart in Napoleon's manual. If you want a second opinion on your wall, send us the dimensions.
How much heat does it put out?
The heater runs up to 1,500 W at 120 V or 3,000 W at 240 V. Napoleon's brochure lists 5,000 BTU at 120 V and 10,000 BTU at 240 V. It has a thermostat, a blower, an ECO mode that uses less power and a Boost mode for more heat. The flame can run with the heater off.
How do I control it?
The remote is included. You can also pair it with Napoleon's Home App over Wi-Fi, which Napoleon says gives control of all modes and functions. A wall-mount controller is an optional Napoleon part.
Can I change how the flame bed looks?
Yes. It comes with logs, glass, mineral rocks and charcoal, and the ember bed and top light change color. Napoleon also lists optional birch log kits, mineral rock kits and glass beads in five colors for the Astound Built-in. They are in the Add to your order box above.
Does the glass get hot, and can it go in a bathroom?
The glass stays hot for an extended period after the appliance is off, and Napoleon asks that young children be supervised. Napoleon's manual says this appliance is not suitable for installation in a bathroom, and not for outdoor use.
