Mater Ocean Chair

The Mater Ocean Chair is a recycled plastic outdoor dining chair first drawn by Jorgen and Nanna Ditzel in 1955 and rebuilt in reclaimed waste. Slatted, stackable and genuinely weatherproof, it is the patio dining chair you buy once.

Why it works outside

• Built for weather Ocean is Mater's outdoor collection. The frame is recycled steel tube in a gunmetal finish and the slats are solid recycled plastic, so there is no cushion to haul in and nothing to rot.
• Stacks four high Four chairs nest into the footprint of one when you need the deck back.
• Designed for disassembly Every component comes apart for recycling at end of life, which is also why a single slat can be replaced instead of the whole chair.

Because every batch is milled from reclaimed waste, color and speckle vary slightly from piece to piece. That variation is the material, not a flaw.

Sold as a single chair. Arrives four to a carton, so ordering in fours is the cheapest way to buy. Designed by Jorgen and Nanna Ditzel. Made in Poland. Wipe down with mild soap and water. Processing is typically two to three weeks from order. Mater ships direct to you, curbside, so plan on a hand to carry it in from the curb. We quote freight separately before anything ships.
