Lexington Hearth Farmhouse Non-Combustible Mantel
Lexington Hearth Farmhouse Non-Combustible Mantel

The Lexington Hearth Farmhouse is a large non-combustible beam mantel with a 10 by 10 inch end profile, made in 72 and 84 inch lengths. It is cast in Burncrete, Lexington Hearth's non-combustible formulation certified to ASTM E136, and hand-painted with wood grain, checks, cracks and ax marks on every exposed edge. At 205 to 235 lbs it is the biggest beam in the range and ships with a heavy-duty mounting bracket, so it suits a tall wall or a wide fireplace that needs a mantel with real mass.

Questions people ask us
Which lengths and finishes can I order?
We list the 72 inch in Maduro and Pale Honey, and the 84 inch in Eclipse and Pale Honey. Lexington Hearth paints the Farmhouse in five standard finishes and offers custom colors and lengths from the factory, so ask us about other combinations.
How far above the fireplace can it go?
Lexington Hearth's install guide gives a general guideline for its non-combustible mantels: the bottom of the mantel at least 6 inches above the glass trim for units under 50,000 BTU, and at least 12 inches for units of 50,000 BTU and up. It also says to follow local building codes and the fireplace manufacturer's minimum clearances. Your fireplace manual has the final say, so check its mantel clearance before you mark the wall.
How does it mount?
It hangs on a 3 by 3 inch mounting bracket. The bracket goes into the studs with two 2.5 inch screws per stud, then three 2.25 inch self-drilling screws fix the mantel to it through the pre-drilled holes in the top. Lexington Hearth calls for at least four studs for the Farmhouse. On masonry, use anchors rated for four times the load, and use non-combustible shims if you need to level it.
Will my wall hold 235 lbs?
That depends on the framing. Lexington Hearth's guide covers wood-framed walls and says to open the wall and add studs if there are not enough, using 16 gauge metal studs in the non-combustible zone. If you are unsure, have a contractor look at the wall before you order.
Can I cut or drill it?
No. Lexington Hearth warns against drilling, sawing, sanding or machining its cast mantels, because that can release ceramic fiber and crystalline silica dust. Use the pre-drilled holes, and if you need a different length, ask us about a factory custom length. Also keep tape off the painted finish; cover it with paper or plastic first.
