Jack's Magic The Filter Fiber Stuff, 22 lb | JMFIBER22
Jack's Magic The Filter Fiber Stuff is a super-concentrated, biodegradable pool filter media developed as an alternative to diatomaceous earth in compatible pressure DE filters. It requires less than half the amount of product by weight compared with conventional DE and can capture extremely fine suspended particles.
The fiber media can also be added to compatible sand and cartridge filters to enhance filtration and improve water clarity. Its fine filtration performance helps reduce the particles that can leave pool water looking cloudy or dull even when the water chemistry is properly balanced.
This listing is for one 22-pound bulk package containing 352 ounces of Jack's Magic Filter Fiber Stuff.
What Filter Fiber Stuff Does
- Replaces DE media in compatible pressure DE filters

- Can be applied through the pool skimmer as a slurry
- Suitable for residential and professional pool maintenance
Product Benefits
- Complete DE media alternative: May be used instead of diatomaceous earth in compatible pressure DE filters when applied according to Jack's Magic directions.

Manufacturer Dosage by Filter Type
Pressure DE Filters
1 DE scoop per 12 sq. ft.Use one DE scoop of Filter Fiber Stuff for every 12 square feet of filter area.
Jack's Magic gives a 60-square-foot DE filter as an example requiring five DE scoops, or one 36-ounce package.
Cartridge Filters
3 oz. per 25 sq. ft.Add 3 ounces by weight for every 25 square feet of cartridge filter area.
The product is left on the cartridge while the pool operates and is replaced after the cartridge is cleaned.
Sand Filters
3 oz. at a timeAdd 3 ounces by weight at a time until filter pressure rises by approximately 2 PSI or a maximum total of 9 ounces has been added.
The media must be backwashed from a sand filter after no more than 24 hours of operation.
Create a Slurry Before Adding the Media
Start with a clean filter and note the clean operating pressure shown on the pressure gauge. Measure the correct amount of Filter Fiber Stuff for the filter type and filter area.
Mix the measured fiber into a clean bucket of pool water to create a pourable slurry. With the circulation pump operating, slowly pour the slurry into the pool skimmer so the media is carried into the filter.
Monitor the filter pressure and return flow during and after charging. Clean or backwash the filter when pressure rises 10 PSI above the clean starting pressure or when the flow returning to the pool becomes noticeably reduced.
Important Product Clarifications
Filter Fiber Stuff is filtration media. It is not a sanitizer, shock, algaecide, clarifier, phosphate remover or water-balancing chemical. It improves the physical filtration of particles but does not replace proper pool-water chemistry or sanitation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Jack's Magic JMFIBER22 currently available?
No. The 22-pound JMFIBER22 package is sold out for the remainder of the 2026 pool season. Additional inventory is expected for the 2027 season, subject to the manufacturer's production schedule.
Is JMFIBER22 discontinued?
No. The product is temporarily out of stock for the season rather than permanently discontinued. The 22-pound size is expected to return in 2027.
What is Jack's Magic The Filter Fiber Stuff?
It is a biodegradable fiber filtration media designed to replace DE in compatible pressure DE filters or enhance particle filtration in sand and cartridge filters.
Can Filter Fiber Stuff completely replace DE?
Yes. Jack's Magic identifies the product as a complete alternative to diatomaceous earth in compatible pressure DE filters. Follow the Filter Fiber Stuff dosage rather than using the original DE weight.
How much fiber is needed for a DE filter?
Jack's Magic specifies one DE scoop of Filter Fiber Stuff for every 12 square feet of filter area. A 60-square-foot pressure DE filter requires five scoops, which the manufacturer identifies as approximately 36 ounces.
Can Filter Fiber Stuff be used in a cartridge filter?
Yes. Use 3 ounces by weight for every 25 square feet of cartridge filter area. Apply the media as a slurry through the skimmer while the pump is operating.
Can Filter Fiber Stuff be used in a sand filter?
Yes. Add 3 ounces by weight at a time until the filter pressure rises by approximately 2 PSI or until a maximum of 9 ounces has been added. The fiber must be backwashed from the sand filter after no more than 24 hours.
Does this product replace the sand in a sand filter?
No. The sand remains inside the filter. A small measured amount of Filter Fiber Stuff is added through the skimmer to coat and enhance the existing filtration bed.
Does it replace a cartridge filter element?
No. The cartridge remains installed. Filter Fiber Stuff forms a fine filtration layer on the cartridge and must be reapplied after the element is cleaned.
How fine does Filter Fiber Stuff filter?
Jack's Magic manufacturer literature states that the media can provide filtration down to approximately 2 microns under suitable operating conditions.
Why did my filter pressure increase after adding it?
A small pressure increase is expected as the media coats the filter and begins capturing fine debris. A rapid or excessive increase may indicate that too much media was added or the filter was not clean before charging.
When should the filter be cleaned?
Clean or backwash the filter when pressure rises 10 PSI above the clean starting pressure or when return flow becomes reduced. Sand filters must also be backwashed after no more than 24 hours when using the fiber.
Is the 22-pound listing a case of small bags?
No. This listing is for one 22-pound bulk package containing a total of 352 ounces of Jack's Magic The Filter Fiber Stuff.
Not Sure How Much Filter Fiber You Need?
Identify the filter type, manufacturer model and square-foot filtration area before calculating the correct amount of Filter Fiber Stuff.
