The Iron Strike ZC front support kit holds up the front of an ML230GL or ML300GL wood insert where it sits out over the hearth. IHP's manual describes it as supporting the front of the insert and filling the space between the hearth and the insert bottom. Part H8675 fits the ML230GL and F2026 fits the ML300GL, sold as the Montlake and the Carrollton.

Do I need the ZC support?
Only when your installation needs front support. IHP's manual says that if front support is necessary, use the front support kit for your model.
What does it do?

Is there another way to support the front?
The ML300GL manual also describes leveling legs that thread into two 3/8-16 holes under the front of the firebox. Your installer can tell you which suits the hearth.
