Heat & Glo WDR38 refractory sets are the brick firebox panels for the Rutherford 36, 42 and 50 wood-burning fireplaces. The Rutherford ships without refractory, so a set is required to finish the install. Each set has left, back and right panels in a traditional or herringbone pattern.

The Rutherford needs its refractory before use.Heat & Glo lists refractory as required and sold separately. Installation and service should be done by qualified personnel, following the Rutherford installation manual.

Questions people ask us

Which set fits my Rutherford?

Match the size in the model: WDR3836 for the RUTH36, WDR3842 for the RUTH42 and WDR3850 for the RUTH50. Then choose the pattern and color.

Do I need mortar?

Heat & Glo designed the panels to install without mortar. If you choose to use it, plan on about one bucket of MMMORTR for a traditional set and up to two for herringbone.

Are other colors made?

Yes. Heat & Glo also makes the sets in Black Onyx and Masonry Brown. Ask us about those part numbers.

Does it fit the earlier Rutherford-42-B?

The earlier Rutherford-42-B lists its own refractory part numbers. Send us the model and serial number and we will confirm.
