The Heat & Glo Royal Hearth 36 (RH-36-B) is an open wood-burning fireplace with a 36 by 21 inch opening and a traditional brick interior in Natural Gray. It is the classic open hearth, with a built-in ash lip, a front damper handle that locks open or closed, and minimal exposed metal. It is UL 127 listed and vents through an 8 inch SL300 chimney.

Plan the hearth extension and chimney with the fireplace.The manual requires a non-combustible hearth extension, sold separately, and Hearth & Home SL300 chimney. A gas log set, if added, must be ANSI Z21.60 listed with the damper locked open; unvented logs are not allowed. Heat & Glo fireplaces should be installed by a qualified, certified installer, and the chimney to the manual and local building codes.

Questions people ask us

How big is the opening?

36 inches wide by 21 inches high. Heat & Glo also builds a 42 inch Royal Hearth.

Does it come with doors?

No. The DM1036 bi-fold glass doors are an option. See doors and screens.

What chimney does it need?

Hearth & Home SL300 chimney, 8 inch inside diameter, at least 13 feet straight and no more than 90 feet. In Canada the CAK4A chimney air kit is required. See Heat & Glo venting.

Can I put gas logs in it later?

Yes. The manual allows a listed ANSI Z21.60 vented decorative gas log set up to 100,000 BTU/h, with the damper locked fully open. See gas log sets. A licensed gas professional should make the gas connection to the instructions and local codes.
