The Heat & Glo RC-SFRF12 is the radio frequency remote listed for the Scion 43 and 55 and Triton 50, 65 and 78 electric fireplaces. On the Scion it runs power, heater, flame and ember colors, brightness, downlight, sound, timer and thermostat. Because it works by radio frequency, it does not need a line of sight to the fireplace.

No. It is a radio frequency remote, so there is no line of sight requirement. Stay within about 16 feet.
