The Heat & Glo PH-MR is the Passive Heat kit for the 6K and 8K Series gas fireplaces, including the 6K and 8K Modern. Passive Heat is Heat & Glo's fan-free heat management option. It conveys warm air from the fireplace into the same room, lowering surface temperatures around the fireplace. Heat & Glo says this lets a TV or artwork sit as little as 12 inches above the fireplace, and a mantel is part of the plan.

What does Passive Heat do?

It sends warm air from the fireplace into the same room through a front slot, two side registers or an open top, without a fan. Heat & Glo says it lowers surface temperatures so a TV or artwork can go as little as 12 in. above the fireplace.

What else do I need?

For side discharge, the PH-SIDETRIM register covers are required. For front discharge, the PH-FRTTRIM-36 or -42 trim is optional. Mesh is required for front or open top discharge.

Can I add a fan too?

Heat & Glo lists the kit as compatible with the GFK-160A fan, and a mantel is then required.

Can it be added later?

Heat & Glo says it must be installed with the appliance, by a qualified service technician. Ask us before you frame.
