Questions people ask us

How many bags do I need?

Heat & Glo lists 2 bags for the 6KMOD and 3 bags for the 8KMOD. For the Primo II, follow the media chart in the installation manual, or ask us.

Is this the same as the Mezzo media kits?

No. The Mezzo uses media kits sized to the fireplace. These 5 lb bags are listed for the Primo II and the 6K and 8K Modern models.

Can I add river rock stones?

Yes, on most models the stones go in a single layer on top of the media. Primo II models cannot use stones together with logs.

Should I wash it first?

It is optional. Rinse with water to remove shipping dust, then dry it on paper towels before installing.
