The Grand Canyon Split Oak is a vent-free gas log set, sold as logs only, in 18", 24" and 30" sizes. Grand Canyon describes Split Oak as deep charred patterns with a split look. The logs are cast in ceramic refractory and hand painted. It is made to sit on the Grand Canyon Vulcan vent-free burner, sold separately: the 18" logs go on the 18" burner, and the 24" and 30" logs share the 24/30" burner. Part numbers VFSO18, VFSO24, VFSO30.

Vent-free rules apply.Grand Canyon's Vulcan manual does not allow the system in bedrooms or bathrooms, sets a minimum room size of 50 cubic feet per 1,000 BTU of input, and assumes elevations up to 2,000 feet. Check that local codes allow vent-free appliances. A licensed gas professional should make the gas connection to the instructions and local codes.

Questions people ask us

Does this include the burner?

No. This is the log set only. It is made for the Grand Canyon Vulcan vent-free burner, sold separately. See the Grand Canyon vent-free burners.

Can I use these logs on a vented burner?

These logs are made for the Vulcan system. Grand Canyon's manual says to use only Grand Canyon parts and accessories listed for that burner. The Vulcan itself is listed for vent-free use and as a vented decorative appliance.

How big does the room need to be?

Grand Canyon calls for at least 50 cubic feet per 1,000 BTU of burner input. A quick check from the manual: length x width x height x 20 gives the most BTU the room allows. Vent-free use is not allowed in bedrooms or bathrooms.

How many logs are in the set?

Grand Canyon lists 7 logs in the 18" set and 10 logs in the 24" and 30" sets.
