Questions people ask us

How do I know my Flare has the GV60 valve?

Many legacy Flare direct vent fireplaces use the Mertik Maxitrol GV60 valve. Some legacy units use Honeywell, and current models use SIT ProFlame II. Check the valve, or send us the model and serial number and we will tell you.

What does F-04 on the display mean?

Flare explains that F-04 means the valve did not get confirmation that the pilot heated the thermocouple. Check the gas supply, the spark, media near the pilot and the thermocouple, and try re-syncing the remote and receiver.

Will removing the batteries clear my settings?

Yes. Flare's instructions note that removing the batteries clears the Program 1 and 2 on and off times and temperatures.

How do I switch between F and C?

Flare's Symax instructions switch units by pressing two buttons together. Choosing F gives a 12 hour clock and C gives a 24 hour clock.
