BrandDuravent
Keep DuraBlack 18 inches from combustibles.Duravent requires at least 18 inches of clearance between DuraBlack single-wall pipe and combustible walls, ceilings and furniture. Stovepipe is a connector, not a chimney: it cannot be enclosed or pass through combustible material, so the chimney takes over at the ceiling support box or wall thimble. The appliance manual decides the venting.

Questions people ask us

Can the angle be changed?

Yes. Duravent makes DuraBlack elbows adjustable, so you can set the angle to suit a vaulted ceiling or a run that a fixed elbow will not fit.

Should I use a 90 on a rear exit stove?

Duravent does not recommend a 90 degree elbow for rear exit appliances. A tee with clean-out cap is the usual choice there. Duravent also notes that if 90 degree elbows are used, no drip-free claim applies to the system.

Is DuraBlack a chimney?

No. DuraBlack is single-wall connector pipe. It runs from the appliance flue outlet to a manufactured chimney, such as Duravent DuraPlus or DuraTech, at the ceiling support box or finishing collar. Duravent says connector pipe cannot be enclosed, cannot pass through combustible material and must not leave the room the appliance is in.

Which appliances can it connect?

Duravent describes DuraBlack as interior stovepipe for connecting wood stoves to a manufactured chimney, and its FAQ rates it for wood, oil, coal or gas appliances. The appliance manufacturer's manual decides which connector and chimney are approved, so check it first or send us the appliance model.
