Questions people ask us

Do I need a storm collar?

Yes. Duravent's instructions place a storm collar on the vent pipe over the opening between the pipe and the flashing on every roof penetration.

How is it sealed?

Slide it down to the flashing and seal it to the pipe with high-temperature silicone, as Duravent's catalog describes.

Which size do I order?

Order the same nominal size as the vent. The 10", 12" and 14" collars have an inside diameter of 11", 13" and 15", which matches the outer wall of that Model BV pipe.

Who should install it?

Duravent warrants the vent fully only when a professional installer puts it in. A licensed gas professional should install the system to Duravent's instructions, NFPA 54 (the National Fuel Gas Code) and local codes. The appliance manufacturer's manual decides which venting is approved and the vent size and layout, so send us the appliance model and we will check.
