Do I need it if I have flashing?
Yes. Duravent says the storm collar is required with DuraPlus flashing.
What sealant should I use?
A non-hardening high temperature sealant rated to 500 F, on the inner edge where the collar meets the pipe.
How high does the chimney need to go?
Duravent's instructions quote NFPA 211: at least 3 feet above the point where it passes through the roof and 2 feet higher than any part of the building within 10 feet. DuraPlus may be installed up to 35 feet high, and an Extended Roof Bracket is required if it runs more than 4 feet above the roof.
