Questions people ask us
Which size fits my fire pit?
Athena makes the pan in 24 x 8, 30 x 10, 36 x 12 and 48 x 14 inch sizes, and the installation manual lists each pan at 2 1/2 inches longer and wider than its nominal size. Send us your opening and we will check the fit.
What comes in the box?
The burner and pan, a natural gas orifice, a propane orifice, the flex line and fittings, and the installation manual. The manual connects the incoming gas line through a key valve, which is not in the parts list, so plan for a valve or control.
What media can I use?
The manual calls for 1/2 to 3/4 inch fire glass rated for fire use, with no more than 1 inch of media over the top of the burner, or 1 to 2 inch lava rock placed loosely. Keep the weep holes in the pan clear. Browse Athena fire glass.
What does the installation need?
Outdoor use only, never on grass, dirt or soft material. The manual requires 18 sq. in. of cross ventilation, 36 inches of clearance to combustibles at the sides and 96 inches above. A licensed gas professional should make the gas connection to the instructions and local codes.
Can I buy the H-burner on its own?
Yes. The Athena H-Burner is sold separately in eight sizes from 12 x 6 to 72 x 8 inches.
