Smart Mode vs Silent Mode
The Raypak Crosswind lets you prioritize faster heating or reduced maximum output. Learn when to use each setting and why Raypak recommends Smart Mode for the initial pool warm-up.
Use Smart Mode when initially heating a cold pool, recovering after a cool night or whenever faster heat-up is the priority. Use Silent Mode after the pool is near the desired temperature or when reduced sound and gentler operation matter more than maximum heating speed. Silent Mode limits the Crosswind to approximately 80% maximum operation and may extend heating time.
```The Crosswind uses inverter technology, which means the compressor does not simply operate at full output and shut off like a traditional single-speed heat pump.
In Smart Mode, the unit can start at higher capacity to bring the water toward the setpoint, then reduce output as the heating demand falls. Silent Mode places a lower ceiling on maximum operation.

At warm test conditions, Silent Mode reduces published maximum output noticeably. At the colder 50°F test condition, the published Smart and Silent capacities are the same because available ambient heat already limits the unit’s output.
