Match the right replacement cartridge to your AquaStar Pipeline Filter, learn when cleaning is enough, and know when it is time to replace PF27CART or PF35CART.
The AquaStar PLF27000 Pipeline Filter uses replacement cartridge PF27CART. The AquaStar PLF35000 Pipeline Filter uses replacement cartridge PF35CART. Clean the cartridge when filter pressure rises, flow drops, or water clarity begins to suffer. Replace the cartridge when pleats are damaged, bands are broken, end caps are compromised, or cleaning no longer restores normal pressure and flow.
Cartridge filters are simple, but the cartridge has to match the filter. The wrong cartridge can cause sealing issues, reduced performance, bypass, difficult reassembly or poor filtration.
Before ordering, confirm the filter model on the tank label. Do not guess from the pool size alone.

When Should You Clean the Cartridge?
There is no universal cleaning schedule for every pool because debris load, pump runtime, pollen, leaves, algae cleanup and water chemistry all affect how quickly a cartridge loads up.
Pressure Rises
Record clean starting pressure. A noticeable increase from clean pressure usually means the cartridge is loading with debris.
Flow Drops
Weak returns, low heater flow or poor skimmer action can point to a dirty cartridge or clogged baskets.
Water Looks Dull
If chemistry is correct but the water looks hazy, the cartridge may need cleaning or replacement.
When Should You Replace the Cartridge?
Cleaning only helps when the cartridge media is still in good condition. Replace the cartridge if it is physically damaged or cannot be cleaned back to normal performance.
Torn Pleats
Rips, holes or collapsed pleats can allow debris to bypass the filter media.
Broken Bands
Broken support bands may allow pleats to spread unevenly and reduce performance.
Damaged End Caps
Cracked or distorted end caps can prevent proper sealing inside the filter.
Stains That Do Not Rinse
Oil, scale or embedded debris can remain even after careful cleaning.
Pressure Returns Quickly
If pressure spikes soon after cleaning, the media may be worn or loaded beyond recovery.
