How to Read a Raypak Digital Model Number
[Header]-R[BTU]A-[Ignition][Fuel]-[Material] #[Elevation] — P/B = header type (Polymer standard / Bronze Professional), E/M = ignition, N/P = fuel, C/X = tube material (Copper/Cupro-Nickel). #57/#58/#61 (propane) = elevation: 0–2,000 ft / 2,000–6,000 ft / 6,000–9,000 ft. Natural gas uses #50/#51/#52 for the same tiers.

Natural Gas vs. Propane
Same heater platform, same pricing at each BTU tier as the natural gas version — the choice comes down to what fuel is available at your property. Propane requires an on-site tank; natural gas requires a utility line connection.
Sizing Guidance
266,000 BTU covers most mid-to-larger residential pools well. If your pool is smaller and heat-up speed isn't critical, the 199,000 BTU model saves about $340. For faster recovery on a larger pool, consider 332,000 BTU.
Install Note
Propane heater installation requires proper tank sizing and regulator setup in addition to standard gas line, venting, and electrical work — use a licensed professional per local code.
