Outdoor fabric, not indoor fabric

Why a Fatboy beanbag can live outside

The outdoor range is cut in Olefin rather than the indoor nylon. It is the fabric that does the work, and it is the reason these can sit out all season instead of being carried in every evening.

  • Olefin outdoor fabric, UV resistant so the color holds
  • Water and dirt repellent, wipe it down with a damp cloth
  • Covers come off and go in the machine
  • Filled with virgin polystyrene beads, topped up rather than replaced

More about Fatboy outdoor furniture and lighting

Fatboy is the Dutch brand behind the Original beanbag, drawn by Jukka Setala in 1998 and still the piece most people picture when the name comes up. The outdoor version swaps the indoor nylon for Olefin, a solution dyed outdoor fabric that resists UV and shrugs off water and dirt, which is what lets it sit on a deck all season. The cover unzips and goes in the machine, and the filling is topped up rather than thrown away.

Beyond the beanbags the range covers Paletti modular lounge seating that you lay out yourself, Toni and Fred's outdoor dining tables and chairs, the Headdemock hammock that brings its own stand, and a family of cordless rechargeable outdoor lamps including Bolleke, Edison, Oloha and Flamtastique. The Floatzac is the beanbag built to go in the pool, which is the one that tends to surprise people.

Aqua Terra Backyard is an authorized Fatboy dealer. Every dimension, weight, capacity, material and warranty term shown on these pages comes from Fatboy own published figures, and every colorway in the range is listed and buyable rather than held back as a special order.
