Pool Pump Is Running but There Is No Flow
A running motor does not guarantee water is moving through the pool. Before replacing a pump, work through the suction side, pump basket, lid seal, valves, filter, impeller and return flow in the correct order.
If your pool pump is running but there is little or no flow, do not assume the motor or pump needs replacement. Start with water level, skimmer basket, pump basket, pump-lid O-ring, valve positions, filter pressure, air leaks and impeller blockage. Most “no flow” problems are caused by a restriction, suction leak or closed valve, not a complete pump failure.

Water has to make it through every part of the system. Any restriction or air leak on this path can reduce circulation.

If water is too low, the skimmer can pull air instead of water.
Leaves and debris can restrict suction before water reaches the pump.
Clean the basket and confirm the lid seats correctly.
A dry, damaged or flattened O-ring can create an air leak and break prime.
Make sure suction and return valves are open for the pool mode you are using.
High pressure often points to a dirty filter or downstream restriction.
Clean, backwash or inspect the filter based on your filter type and pressure baseline.
Small debris can lodge in the impeller and drastically reduce flow.
Air bubbles can indicate a suction-side leak or low water level issue.
A pump that never fully fills with water needs a suction-side diagnosis before replacement.

The correct repair may be a small component. Confirm your pump model and current part before ordering.

For pressure-related issues caused by filter components.
Only when the motor, wet end or pump body genuinely requires replacement.
